MISSION

To guide amateurs toward eternal life.

  • Amateurs are lovers, people who do things for the love of it.

  • Amateurs are humble and forever beginners.

  • Eternal life is an eternal kind of life. It’s life with God stretching from eternity past to eternity future.

VISION

Generations coming to know God and filling the world with self-giving love.

  • Generations before, a multigenerational present, and generations to come.

  • Eternal life is knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ (John 17:3).

  • Knowing is relational and an endless pursuit.

  • Filling the world is kintsugi-like. It’s finding places of brokenness and filling them with gold.

  • Love is the gift of self. It’s imitating Jesus’ life and death.

POSITION

Regard to apprehend.

The way a person lovingly, attentively orients toward someone or something in order to come to know it, not as a detached observer but as one engaged in a covenantal relationship. Knowing is an apprehension—a bodily, relational grasping—rather than merely collecting and arranging information.

PROMISE

Love knower. Love neighbor.

Knowers are people on a quest to know God, themselves, others, and reality in relationship. Neighbors are everyone Christ calls a neighbor, including enemies. Love is the gift of self.

PRINCIPLES

Creeds
We confess the Nicene Creed, the Apostles' Creed, and the Athanasian Creed in solidarity with the global Church across centuries, geographies, denominations, and cultures.

Bible
The Bible is God's written message to his people: his self-revelation and ways. The Scriptures point to Jesus, God Incarnate, his clearest self-revelation.

Sin
Sin is missing the mark, an archery reference. It is a breach of trust in God that involves doing wrong and failing to do right. Sin is also a Power that corrupts people, systems, and cultural patterns.

Salvation
Salvation is rescue from the Power of Sin and our sins. It is a resettlement from the dominion of darkness to the Kingdom of God's Son, complete with a new heart, spirit, identity, inheritance, and future.

Holiness and Sanctification
Holiness is distinctness. A holy people is a called-out, set-apart people. Sanctification is adapting to a distinctness that is in the same direction as God's distinctness.

Eternal Life
Eternal life is knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ (John 17:3). It is an eternal kind of life.

Knowing
Knowing is a journey of coming to know God, self, others, and reality in a covenant relationship.

Evangelism
Evangelism is helping people find and live in the freedom Christ once and for all endowed.

Missions
Missions is Kingdom ambassadorship; living Jesus-like lives before the world; loving all people, caring for creation, and rejecting worldly patterns.
