Right-Sizing

With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. — James 3:9-10

I really want this to be a self-control issue. It's not. It's a failure to see myself and others as God sees us. A proper view of others' God-likeness will right-size them greater in my eyes. My God-likeness should right-size me in the opposite direction.

My People

...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. — 2 Chronicles 7:14

Since Abraham, God's approach has been to work with a called-out people. Sometimes many thousands of people; sometimes just a remnant. The best gift to the nation(s) is a people who humbly dwell before the face of God.

For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy. — 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20

I know this feeling. Every time I watch you, our college interns, and young staff, I experience a sense of hope and joy. It's a glory we share with home churches and others who have served as your guides. You give us hope.
