About & More
Eternal life is knowing God. What is it to know God? Is it enough to know about him? Think of people you know about: sports figures, performers, business leaders, politicians, people in gossip columns or the rumor mill. Now bring to mind people you know about AND know. How would you describe the difference? What is the 'more' in knowing?
Sillage
But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. ⏤ 2 Cor. 2:14 NIV
The aroma (or fragrance) of the knowledge of God. When we discover that the knowledge of God = eternal life, we see he wants us to spread the fragrance of that eternal life everywhere we go. What do we 'smell like' to the world?
Sillage (UK: /siːˈjɑːʒ/, French: [sijaʒ]) in perfume refers to the trail created by a perfume when it is worn on the skin. It comes from the word in French for "wake" and can best be described as how a fragrance diffuses "in a person's wake," or, behind the wearer as they move.
