Litmus
This is the happiest time of year for our hydrangeas. As the blooms open wide, they look bright and fresh. The flowers are fascinating. Their color reveals something about the soil they're planted in. Pink blooms indicate an alkaline soil. Blue ones, a more acidic pH. It's like litmus paper in chemistry class, only reversed. Our presentation to others has litmus qualities as well. What ground are we rooted in: the world or God's kingdom?
To Know God and Make Him Known
One stop on our family's journey was a season with Youth With A Mission. For over 50 years, YWAM has used the phrase "To know God and make Him known" as a guiding statement. Knowing God is eternal life. It's not a destination; it's a relationship. With God, we experience an eternal kind of life, and we invite others to experience that life with us. Oh, what joy!
That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you may have fellowship with us; and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. ⏤ 1 John 1:3
Connection
ISO125 41mm f8 1/30s
We are social beings, made to connect. But connecting opens us to some unwanted traffic. I am trying to manage my own problems. I'm not sure I can carry yours too. My livelihood depends on a carefully crafted brand. What if you discover the image doesn't match reality? And what if your views upset mine?
We have been set in communities. For the most part, we don't find these communities or build them. We receive them. Might that shift the way we connect?
