God is Near
“The most holy and important practice in the spiritual life is the presence of God—that is, every moment to take great pleasure that God is with you.” ⏤ Brother Lawrence
Brother Lawrence made a conscious effort to remain aware of God's presence every minute of his day. I'm not sure how that's possible, but I know it's a worthwhile aim. Attention to God's with-ness would certainly form my dependency, my heart, and my behavior.
Litmus
This is the happiest time of year for our hydrangeas. As the blooms open wide, they look bright and fresh. The flowers are fascinating. Their color reveals something about the soil they're planted in. Pink blooms indicate an alkaline soil. Blue ones, a more acidic pH. It's like litmus paper in chemistry class, only reversed. Our presentation to others has litmus qualities as well. What ground are we rooted in: the world or God's kingdom?
To Know God and Make Him Known
One stop on our family's journey was a season with Youth With A Mission. For over 50 years, YWAM has used the phrase "To know God and make Him known" as a guiding statement. Knowing God is eternal life. It's not a destination; it's a relationship. With God, we experience an eternal kind of life, and we invite others to experience that life with us. Oh, what joy!
That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you may have fellowship with us; and our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. ⏤ 1 John 1:3

The God of the Bible looks like Jesus, the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being. It would be just like him to go to the cross.
