Too Simple

I learned in college chemistry that ingredients A and B do not yield C, like I was taught in High School. They yield A+B+C, plus some other things probably. My physicist son tells me most of what I learned in Physics was greatly simplified. Reality makes even supercomputers sweat. In Engineering, we add a safety factor because we can't know everything. Physiology is ridiculously complex. The same is true of faith and eternal life. An invitation to know God (eternal life) can't be reduced to four principles and a diagram.

For at least 1700 years, societies have been friendly to Christianity, but unfriendly to Christ. There's a red line that shall not be crossed. There's a declaration that cannot be allowed. "Jesus is Lord, not __________." It's understandable for people who hunger and thirst for power. But what about those who hunger and thirst for righteousness?

Rescue

I practice the spiritual discipline of rescuing earthworms on paved surfaces. It's a reminder to me that I can pause what I'm doing, get a little dirty, and help. Also, that I've been given the responsibility to care.

I practice the spiritual discipline of rescuing earthworms on paved surfaces. It's a reminder to me that I can pause what I'm doing, get a little dirty, and help. Also, that I've been given the responsibility to care. This worm won't make it far across hot asphalt. But when I try to help, it fights and squirms! So hard to grasp. So hard to save. Maybe another reminder: I, too, can become anxious and struggle. For good reason, Wiggly Worm doesn't trust me. But I should be able to trust God. And rest in the rescue.
