Chasing Bubbles

It's common to hear about bubbles in financial and real estate markets. Bubbles form when asset classes climb beyond reasonable fundamentals. There's a sense of "This will end badly, but maybe not today." Why do we tell ourselves this? Greed? FOMO? Competition? When justifiable hope turns to wishful thinking, we're no longer building on stable ground. Where else have we moved into wishful thinking? It will end badly. But maybe not today.

Keeping An Open Door

Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? — James 3:11

James's question is metaphorical. Can blessing and cursing come from the same mouth? Maybe the unexpected answer is yes if the spring is contaminated. And salty water is deadly to drink.

Filtering what comes out is harder work than monitoring what goes in. We're told, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." (Prov. 4:23)
